چکیده

The X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) technique was used to analyze the structural geometry of Ag atoms introduced into soda-lime silicate glass and soda aluminosilicate glass by ion-exchange methods. The results show that Ag ions in aluminosilicate glass are coordinated by about two oxygens and the nearest-neighbor Ag-O distance increases when the Ag-for-Na ion-exchange ratio is larger than 0.47. When the exchange ratio is low, the introduced Ag ions are stabilized at the non-bridge oxygen (NBO) site with a Ag-O distance of 2.20 Å, and the Na ions in the AlØ4 site are exchanged by Ag + ions after full replacement of the NBO sites with a Ag-O distance of 2.28 Å. The disorder of Ag-O coordination increases with increasing ion-exchange ratio in aluminosilicate glass where Ag ions are coordinated by NBO and bridge oxygen (BO).

Micro-channels over the glass surface made by interaction of Ar+ laser beam and Ag+/Na+ ion-exchanged glasses

Micro-channels are made over the Ag+/Na+ ion-exchanged soda-lime glass surface by interaction of an intense Ar+ laser beam and the silver ions inside the glass matrix. The Ar+ laser beam reduces the Ag+ ions inside the matrix. The Ag+ atoms aggregate into silver nano-clusters around the interaction area, inside the glass matrix. Aggregation of the silver atoms and the thermal effects of the int...

Efficient and Controllable Silver Nanoparticles Generation in Ion-exchanged Soda-lime Glasses by Simultaneous Heat Treatment and UV Exposure

In this paper, we report on the space-selective precipitation of silver nanoparticles in ion-exchanged silicabased glasses, by simultaneous continuous wave UV exposure and heat treatment. Changes in the absorption spectrum of the glass are explained by the growth of the silver nanoparticles when increasing the UV power density and the annealing temperature. Nanoparticles of average diameter 40 ...

Plasmonic molecules via glass annealing in hydrogen

UNLABELLED Growth of self-assembled metal nanoislands on the surface of silver ion-exchanged glasses via their thermal processing in hydrogen followed by out-diffusion of neutral silver is studied. The combination of thermal poling of the ion-exchanged glass with structured electrode and silver out-diffusion was used for simple formation of separated groups of several metal nanoislands presenti...

EXAFS Study of Silver and Rubidium Environments in Silicate Glasses

In order to study local order around Ag and Rb ions in ionexchanged glasses EXAFS experiments were performed after thermal annealiigs at different temperatures below and above the glass transformation temperature. By means of Ag K-edge spectra three coordination spheres could be discussed. Whereas the two Ag-O distances remain unchanged during thermal treatments the Ag-Ag correlation exhibits t...

Luminescence Enhancement in Eu(III)-Doped Tellurite Glass Embedded Silver Nanoparticles

Introduction of the metallic nanoparticles (NPs) in the bulk glass received a large interest due to their versatile applications. The effect of silver NPs on optical properties of the Eu3+-doped zinc tellurite glasses is presented for the first time. Glass samples are prepared by melt-quenching technique. The surface plasmon absorption bands of silver NPs are recorded in the visible ...
